Needs: various construction projects and ministry opportunities (Note) This church puts on a huge Christmas program every year and is in need of teams that will come and serve food, handout Christmas boxes, minister, and just plain lend a helping hand. In 2011, 47 people gave their hearts to the Lord through their efforts. Along with the Christmas boxes that Native American Ministries (NAM) provides, they also need food items, winter clothing, especially for children (hats, gloves, mittens, coats, etc. – new or in like-new condition), and warm blankets. Because there is such a high percentage of unwed mothers, we encourage churches and individuals to supply baby blankets.

On this reservation, teams have the opportunities to do ministry programs, construction projects, or a combination of both. They need volunteers with expertise in electrical work.

Needs: There is good, forward momentum in church growth at Good News A/G, and it is important to keep that going. There is quality oversight of church affairs that allow for scheduling both ministry and construction projects throughout the year. Our ministry has experienced very good results in continuing our partnership with reservation churches during times of transition.

Needs: This year (2012) plans are underway to add on to the existing building at Wakpala. This church is in desperate need of a fellowship hall (very important in Sioux culture) and Sunday school classrooms. Our ministry has raised $10,000 toward the Wakpala project and ask that others step up to the plate with matching funds. Pastor King has faithfully served this community for over 20 years. He, being a full blooded Sioux Indian, volunteered to be my mentor early in my ministry to Native Americans. This is not a matter of “Can we do it?” but, rather, a matter of “Are we willing?”
Note: Send your donations to Native American Ministries earmarked for the Wakpala project or, simpler yet, utilize our PayPal option. We are a not-for-profit corporation, so your donations are tax deductible. The new building that will accommodate both community and church events. Of great importance, it will provide the community of Wakpala with a place where its citizens can conduct wakes when loved ones pass away. It is difficult to explain how important this is in Eugene’s culture. Suffice it to say that this gives Pastor King an extremely powerful opportunity to minister to his people.
