Current Projects

Lower Brule Reservation (Sioux)

Since July 2007, we have been in partnership with Lakeview Assembly of God on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. Through various outreach ministries that we coordinated, in cooperation with the church, many of this community's members have given their hearts to the Lord. As a result, we have had to build a new church there. Thanks to the contributions and volunteer labor of those who believe in our ministry, that project is near completion. There is still a need for small construction projects there, but our main focus continues to be evangelistic outreaches and leadership training.

This summer, August 8h – 10th, we are assisting the church with ministry during the reservation's annual rodeo and pow wow. This event provides an opportunity to minister to people from all across the Northern Plains. Our idea is simple. With temperatures approaching one hundred degrees, we want to offer visitors a free, cold bottle of water along with a copy of the Native American Book of Hope. If you are interested in taking a team to Lower Brule, please contact me for further details.

Standing Rock Reservation (Sioux)

Wakpala is a small, isolated community on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. The existing church there has bullet holes in it and was recently set on fire by arsonists. The pastor, Eugene King, is a Sioux Indian that has faithfully served this community for over eighteen years. Despite his obvious challenges, he is committed to reaching the citizens of Wakapala with the gospel. Tribal leaders have given him a brief window of opportunity to expand his facilities. In 2008, we plan to help move in a doublewide trailer so that he has room for Sunday school classrooms and a fellowship area. We need cash donations, excavation and construction crews, and, ideally, the donation of a new double-wide mobile home.

Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation (Chippewa)

Located in a remote wilderness area near the community of Couderay, Wisconsin, on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, is a church officiated by Marvin and Debbie Wilbur. The Wilburs have served this reservation for over twenty years and have successfully built a new church there. We have partnered with them to provide assistance with reaching the children of their community. Every June we coordinate an annual children's crusade, and we are looking for construction teams to build playground equipment on the church property. This is a great opportunity for your church to take children's ministry to the mission field.

Yankton Sioux Reservation

The Yankton Sioux are located on a reservation in south‑central South Dakota comprising a population of approximately 3,500 enrolled members. This summer, July 25 & 27, we are conducting a major outreach there and are planning to serve 600 guests in a venue that includes, among other things, free eye screening and eyeglasses, a ministry area, free groceries, and a kid's carnival. I need approximately 150 volunteers. The Native American church at Wagner represents a new initiative for us, and we have high expectations of it becoming a mighty force in reaching this reservation.
